The first wind of spring
a seasonal sand storm
leaves a lingering chill
This haiku is a word play on the “changing of the seasons” and a “seasonal sand storm” that blew over Tokyo in March of 2013. The last line has another dual meaning which takes meaning both from the lingering cold of winter in the first spring wind of the year and the fact that the sand storm feels like bad news to come…..
I read this at the annual Swedish Chamber of Commerce Sakura party at Happo-En 2013-04-03
