White collar

Before I attempted the Japan Oxfam Trailwalker I did a lot of research on trail walking and ultra trail races and such. I found a really good website which talked about both the mental and the physical challenges of doing something so gruelling over a long period of time.

One of the main things that it mentioned was that when you finish the race you feel like you could lift mountains and slay giants but that theis feeling turns into despair after a couple of weeks. Having trained and strived towards a goal for such a long time your mind now feels empty and without purpose.

So what better than to find a new purpose?

I am the first to confess that my soul is a bit restless and I do not enjoy monotony. I need constant change and like to try new things.  So my next challenge can not be another hike. I really enjoyed doing it but this time it will be different.

It will still be a physical challenge because I enjoy using my body. It will be a test of strength for the mind as well since it means outsmarting an opponent.

More than anything it will be something that I have to do alone. No team to support me this time. There will be a team to support my training and preparation, but this challenge I will face alone.

Some of you might be able to figure it out though…..

I will not put any details in this particular post as I am still waiting for some information from the organizers.

What I will say though is that I will not be able to do it without the support of my family and my friends.

You all mean the world to me so this one, I do for you!
